Earlier this week Xi Jinping went to the US for the first time since 2017. This time he met an American leader who sometimes appears a tad less energetic than his predecessor, which Chinese state media also wasn’t shy to capitalise on.
But as Niklas ”@KluddNiklas” Eriksson shows in his latest cartoon here on Kinamedia, appearances can often be deceptive.
Despite looking more fragile than Donald Trump, Biden has successfully rallied important allies to impose sanctions affecting an already battered Chinese economy, and oppose Beijing’s claims on Taiwan and other ”core interests”.
Xi Jinping might look more agile and with a better head of hair than Joe Biden. But look under the table to see who really got the bigger gun as the two were quarrelling over the world order in good old Wild West territory.
